In the Lower Zambezi, the magnificent Zambezi River and surrounding escarpment provide a spectacular backdrop for wildlife viewing and river-based safari experiences.

South Luangwa is renowned for its exceptional wildlife, with large populations of elephant, buffalo, impala and puku found throughout the park.
Predators are a major highlight, with lion, leopard, spotted hyena and African wild dog among the species that may be encountered. The park is particularly celebrated for its excellent leopard viewing.
Day and night game drives provide opportunities to experience the wildlife at different times, while guided walking safaris offer a fascinating way to discover the smaller details of the African bush.
The best time for a Zambia safari is generally during the dry season from May to October, when wildlife gathers around rivers and water sources and game viewing is excellent.
May and June bring greener landscapes, pleasant daytime temperatures and cooler evenings. Many seasonal bush camps begin opening as roads become accessible.
July and August are typically dry with warm, clear days and cool nights, making this an excellent time for walking safaris and game drives.
September and October become progressively hotter, particularly in the Luangwa Valley and Lower Zambezi, but wildlife viewing can be superb as animals concentrate around remaining water sources.
November to April is Zambia’s green season, bringing warmer temperatures and seasonal rainfall. The landscape becomes lush and birdlife is particularly rewarding, although some remote camps may close during the wetter months.
Set on the banks of the Zambezi River near Lower Zambezi National Park, Kasaka River Lodge offers a relaxed riverside base for exploring this beautiful wildlife region. Its location provides excellent opportunities for game viewing and river-based safari experiences.
Enjoy wonderful views across the Zambezi River, with wildlife including elephant, hippo, buffalo and crocodile frequently found in the surrounding area.

Morning, afternoon and night game drives, together with guided walking safaris, provide excellent opportunities to experience South Luangwa’s diverse wildlife, including elephant, lion, leopard and hippo.
Comfortable en-suite safari accommodation allows guests to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the African bush between activities.
Day 1 – Arrive at Lusaka Airport, Zambia
After arrival in Lusaka transfer to your lodge in the outskirts of town. Dinner in a restaurant
Overnight: Lusaka – half-board
Days 2, 3 and 4: Lower Zambezi National Park:
After breakfast we drive through Lusaka and down the escarpment to the Zambezi valley. A visit to the Lower Zambezi Park is one of the highlights in Zambia.
The Zambezi River on the one side and the Escarpment on the other form the backdrop of our game viewing. We do game drives in the park and boating along the river shore to watch the animals come to drink. On one of these days, we will do a sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi.

Day 5: Flight to Mfuwe – South Luangwa NP:
In the morning transfer to Royal Airstrip and flight to Mfuwe airport. Transfer to our lodge on the banks of the Luangwa River. No activities
are included for this afternoon. Overnight in safari tents at Msandile Lodge or similar.
Days 6, 7 and 8: South Luangwa Park
South Luangwa NP is known for its abundance of African wildlife: Thorneycroft’s giraffe, Cookson’s Gnu, Crawshay Zebra and big herds of buffalo and elephant.
Game drives along the Luangwa River often produce spectacular sightings. Hippo families can be seen in great numbers in the river,unparalleled in Africa.
During the dry season (July to October), many side channels of the river dry up, leaving the fish trapped. This attracts many different species of predators, such as the African fish eagle, jackal and hyenas. The colourful Carmine bee-eaters are often
seen perching in front of their nests in the riverbanks. You will explore the area on game drives (also night game drives) and game walks (2 activities per day, depending on availability).
Overnight in safari tents at Msandile Lodge or similar. (3x FB).
Day 9: Departure
Farewell to Zambia. Transfer to Mfuwe airport for your flight back home.
