With a choice of walks along the beach, through the coastal forest ; the opportunity to boogie board or kayak, or to watch turtles hatch or catch a glimpse of a passing humpback whale, there is always plenty to do between relaxing.

In the Selous you will spot elephants, buffalos, leopards and large prides of lions as well as wild dogs. You will enjoy both day and night game drives, as well as walking safaris and boat trips along the river.

  • Siwandu Safari Camp – Selous

The luxury Siwandu Safari Camp offers panoramic views across the lake on the banks of Lake Nzerakera, just off the Rufiji River in the Selous Game Reserve. The camp’s fascinating history includes a private visit from the Prince of Wales and his two young sons. Siwandu is perfect for immersing oneself in unspoilt nature with bush luxury.

  • Ras Kutani Beach Resort

Ras Kutani Resort lies between the shores of the Indian Ocean and the quiet inlets of a freshwater lagoon, creating your perfect barefoot hideaway.
Ras Kutani emanates from the never-ending stretches of white sand, broken only by footprints and the lapping of the cool blue waves; this sought-after beach solitude is the foundation of pure relaxation.

Selous is the largest Reserve in Africa and one of the largest in the world. Landscaped to perfection by nature’s hand it remains protected from human impact due to its remote and vast 50,000 km2 terrain. With its associated wetlands, lakes and swamps, it’s one of the most outstanding and unique ecological systems in the world. Due to this unique ecosystem the Selous Game Reserve is honored as a World Heritage Site. The reserve is named after Frederick Courtney Selous, British Officer, Explorer, Hunter and Conservationist who was born on 31 December 1851.

The best time to visit Selous is in the dry season between June and October. All the lodges close down their operations in the months of March and reopen in June.
