Tips to enhance your Kenya Serena Safari experience:

Should you go on a road safari or a fly-in safari?

Luxury 4 Night Kenya Serena Safari combines an unforgettable safari in Kenya’s two most well known parks – the Sweetwaters Private Game Reserve and the Masai Mara National Park. You will be fascinated by the wonderful mixture of spectacular scenery, diverse wildlife and Kenyan culture.
Begin with a short flight to Sweetwaters Private Game Reserve airstrip and spend 2-nights of game drives and sun-downers at the luxury Serena Sweetwaters Lodge. Thereafter a short flight to Masai Mara Game Reserve to spend 2-nights at the elegant Mara Serena Lodge. The Safari is inclusive of return internal flights.

In early June, over 3 million wildebeest and zebra migrate to the Serengeti Plains in Tanzania in search of water and fresh grass. From July to October, the countless herds gather along the Mara River, the last barrier between them and the sweet green grass of the Masai Mara. Countless wildlife documentaries have recorded the awe-inspiring sight of the migration crossing the Mara River into Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

In November, when the short rains begin, the massive herds begin their southward journey to the Serengeti. For many people, timing their Masai Mara Kenya Safari to coincide with the migration seems vital – but with a very abundant and healthy resident population of animals, a holiday in Kenya’s Masai Mara is great at any time of the year.

The Masai Mara is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains.

Sweetwaters Luxury Tented Camp

Located in the heart of privately owned 22,000 acre Sweetwaters Game Reserve, Sweetwaters Tented Camp enjoys magnificent views across the game-studded plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. Built in the early 70’s, the main building was originally the residence of billionaire Adnan Kashoggi’s ranch manager.

  • More Information

Overlooking a floodlit waterhole, the Camp offers visitors an unforgettable opportunity to watch and photograph animals in their natural habitat.

Accommodation: The 30 luxurious en-suite tents have magnificent views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya.

Activities: At Sweetwaters there is plenty to see. Giraffe, zebra, eland, oryx, waterbuck, Grant’s gazelle, Thompson’s gazelle, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, lion, silver-backed jackals, ostrich, hartebeest, baboon and rhino are all present.

The private game reserve is also home to the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya. Most of the chimps came from the Jane Goodall Institute in Burundi and the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary now cares for them as a non-profit making venture. Most of the chimps were rescued from the most appalling conditions and it is truly heart-warming to see them living in the riverine forest and savannah grasslands here.
