  • Wonders of Damaraland

Damaraland is one of Namibia’s most striking wilderness areas, characterised by dramatic mountains, dry riverbeds and vast open landscapes.

Visit Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its remarkable collection of ancient rock engravings. The area is also home to the Petrified Forest, where fossilised tree trunks provide a fascinating glimpse into Namibia’s prehistoric past.

With its rugged scenery, extraordinary geology and spectacular sunsets, Damaraland offers a wonderful contrast to Namibia’s desert and wildlife regions.

  • Wildlife Experience at Etosha National Park

Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s great wildlife destinations, centred around the vast Etosha salt pan and surrounded by open plains and waterholes that attract an impressive variety of animals.

Game drives offer opportunities to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebra, antelope and the endangered black rhino, as well as an exceptional variety of birdlife. During the dry season, Etosha’s waterholes can provide particularly rewarding wildlife viewing as animals gather to drink.

With its immense horizons, dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife, Etosha is an unforgettable finale to a Namibia safari.

  • INTERESTING INFORMATION

The remarkable Moon Landscape, near Swakopmund, is one of Namibia’s most unusual sights. Its barren, undulating hills create an almost lunar landscape and are particularly atmospheric in the softer light of early morning or late afternoon.

Further south, the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei rise dramatically from the Namib Desert. Sunrise and sunset transform the dunes with changing shades of gold, orange and red, creating some of Namibia’s most memorable photographic opportunities.

Swakopmund is also a centre for adventure, with activities ranging from sandboarding and quad biking to scenic flights over the desert. Nearby Walvis Bay offers boat trips with opportunities to see dolphins, seals and abundant birdlife along the Atlantic coast.

  • BEST TIME TO VISIT NAMIBIA

May to October is generally an excellent time for wildlife viewing, particularly in Etosha National Park. These are Namibia’s cooler, drier months, when vegetation is less dense and animals frequently gather around waterholes.

The greener summer months bring a very different atmosphere, with dramatic skies, fresh landscapes, migrant birds and newborn wildlife. Temperatures can be higher and rainfall is more likely, particularly between January and March.

Namibia can be visited throughout the year, with the best time depending on whether your priority is wildlife, photography, desert landscapes or outdoor adventure.

  • ADD A BEACH ESCAPE TO YOUR NAMIBIA SAFARI

Complete your Namibia safari with a relaxing beach escape. Combine the dramatic landscapes and wildlife of Namibia with time on the shores of Zanzibar, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Maldives, Madagascar or the Kenyan coast.
