Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp is located at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment in the western part of the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. The main living area and all the tents overlook endless, game-filled plains and are shaded by dense forest canopy. In the background, the Oloololo Escarpment stretches into the distance.

GETTING THERE

There are twice daily flights directly to Kichwa Tembo from Wilson Airport in Nairobi.

It is on this very terrain stretching endlessly before the lodge where the annual migrations take place, when millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle traverse the landscape to feed on the rich new grass and give birth to their young.

Accommodation / Facilities:

Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp has 40 canvas safari tents, each with a private outdoor deck. There is an en suite bathroom with shower, stone floors and soft lighting. Each tent stands at least eight metres away from the next, ensuring absolute seclusion.

Each luxurious tent has a private deck with sweeping views of the greatest grassland system on earth, the Masai Mara.

UNIQUE OFFERINGS AND EVENTS

Dawn and late afternoon are prime game viewing times but there is lots to do between game drives. For example try a bird walk with the resident ornithologist and see how many of the three hundred resident species you can identify. Book a hot air balloon ascent at dawn for a unique perspective of the Maasai Mara's wildlife followed by a champagne breakfast. How about a romantic candlelit-dinner on the banks of the Mara river, a visit to a Maasai village or simply a dip in the swimming pool.
