Day 1 - Arusha / Tarangire Arrive Kilimanjaro Airport. Clear Immigration and Customs formalities. Transfer to Arusha Town and onwards to Tarangire National Park. Your safari begins with a drive to Tarangire National Park (2hrs) well known for its huge herds of elephants and buffalo, as well as lion, cheetah and leopard. Tarangire offers wonderful scenery and wildlife. The park's resident animals include large herds of elephants, giant pythons, giraffes, many types of antelopes, and leopards, to name just a few. Afternoon game drive in the Park. All meals & overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge. Meals: lunch, dinner Day 2 - Tarangire / Ngorongoro Morning game viewing in Tarangire National Park. Continue to Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch, for your stay at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Driving up the slopes of the lush green mountain and arriving at the rim of the crater , the first glimpse takes your breath away. The floor of this collapsed volcano spreads for 102 sq. miles and the walls are 2000 feet high, a truly awesome sight. The crater floor is a virtual "Noah's Ark", inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa. It contains a river, several swamps, a soda lake - complete with flamingoes, a forest and open plains. Continue around the crater rim, arriving at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge in the late afternoon. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 3 : Ngorongoro This morning after an early breakfast you will descend down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusk, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and it’s grasses. After a stop for a picnic lunch and more wildlife viewing, drive up the steep road back to your lodge. You have the remainder of the day to enjoy the lodge and time to freshen up before dinner. All meals & overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 4: Ngorongoro / Serengeti Today you’re off to the world famous Serengeti National Park, home of the “great migration”. Your route today is spectacular as you drive across the crater highlands, cresting the hillside where as far as the eye can see, is the vast Serengeti. Serengeti means “endless plains” in Kiswahili and this 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) park is inhabited by more than 2 million large animals including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and gazelles. Large predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey.. Many smaller animals – rock hyrax, bat eared foxes, mongoose, honey badger, jackals, monkeys, baboon and African hare inhabit the area along with nearly 500 species of birds. On the way into the Serengeti you will stop at the famous “Oldupai Gorge”, where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey made their discovery of early man. Afterwards continue to your lodge spotting wildlife en-route. After lunch, you will depart on an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti. Dinner & overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 5: Serengeti A full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Morning and afternoon game drives or a full day with picnic lunch. Overnight: The Serengeti Serena Lodge Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 6: Serengeti / Lake Manyara After breakfast a further game drive in the Serengeti drive to Lake Manyara with packed lunch. Afternoon of game drive in Lake Manyara National Park searching for wildlife taking their afternoon siesta. The park is bounded to the east by the shores of the lake and northwest of the Rift Valley. Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for flight to Zanzibar. Met on arrival and transfer to Zanzibar Serena Inn where your stay is for 2 Nights on Bed & Breakfast basis.
