MASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK

The combination of a gentle climate, scenic splendour and untold numbers of wildlife makes the Masai Mara National Reserve Kenya's most popular inland destination. To capture the true spirit of East Africa there is nothing quite like the experience of adventure in Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve.

For many people, timing their Masai Mara Kenya Safari to coincide with the migration seems vital - but with a very abundant and healthy resident population of animals, a holiday in Kenya's Masai Mara is great at any time of the year.

HIGHLIGHTS:

SWEETWATERS Tented Camp lies in the heart of privately owned 22,000 acre Sweetwaters Game Reserve, enjoying magnificent views across the game-studded plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya.

Overlooking a floodlit waterhole, the Camp offers visitors an unforgettable opportunity to watch and photograph animals in their natural habitat.

Activities at Sweetwaters and Masai Mara:

At Sweetwaters there is plenty to see. Giraffe, zebra, eland, oryx, waterbuck, Grant's gazelle, Thompson's gazelle, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, lion, silver-backed jackals, ostrich, hartebeest, baboon and rhino are all present. There are also several hundred bird species to be observed.

The Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the only one of its kind in Kenya. Visitors can enjoy the unique opportunity of observing the chimps by boat on the Ewaso Nyiro River which flows through the middle of the one-square-kilometre Sanctuary. The riverine forest and savannah grasslands that make up the Sanctury are home to 26 orphaned chimpanzees varying in age from 2 to 15 years.

Also at Sweetwaters is Morani, a tame black rhino born in 1974, who was brought here after his mother was killed by poachers. He now lives a happy and comfortable life in his own compound at Sweetwaters. A visit to Morani is a must; an especially wonderful treat for children.
