GIRAFFE MANOR
The Giraffe Manor is located on 120 acres of forested land, just 8 miles from Kenya’s capital city Nairobi.

Giraffe Manor is a 1930's stone building with soaring two-storey entrance hall and sweeping staircase. It is a beautiful home but what makes it completely unique are the rare Rothschild giraffe that live in the garden and come calling on the house, peering in upstairs and downstairs windows and doorways.

It is the only place in the world that you can feed giraffe from your second floor bedroom window, over the lunch table, and at the front door. Guests can feed and photograph the giraffe and the Warthogs at the Manor, and also wander through the adjoining primeval forest to view the bushbuck, dik dik, and more than 180 species of birds.

A limited number of guests can stay at the House, which is quite grand but not at all imposing. The house comprises five double bedrooms, immaculately furnished in the style of their day, with large four-poster beds, antique furnishings and striking Art Deco bathrooms. Two of the rooms convert to a family suite, while the rear of the house has a large extension ideal for older children.

One of the main bedrooms boasts the original furniture of Karen Blixen’s guestroom, and is hung with exquisite wildlife paintings by her famous cook Kamante. Pre-dinner drinks gathered around the drawing room fire will give you a chance to ask your hosts, Bryony and Rick Anderson, all about this unusual place.
